Suzie Turner NYC
Matt Porteous met Suzie Turner at BrideLux in New York this January. Instantly connecting, they headed out in -5°C conditions the following afternoon with similar visions in mind, to create a totally unplanned couture fashion shoot on the streets on New York City.
Suzie and Matt’s immediate understanding demonstrates how networking opportunities can transform into a beautiful friendship. After New York, Matt headed to West Beverley Hills in LA, to photograph more of Suzie’s understated yet incredibly intricate designs.
Suzie considers each client’s requirements and creates bespoke garments, each with a unique touch and attention to detail. It is clear from her focus on quality and the intricacy of her work, why Suzie is considered one of the top designers in the world. Her open-mindedness and spontaneity combines with Matt’s vision, and their originality and passion come together to communicate the beauty of her timeless creations.
The sporadic energy of the New York shoot with Model Dina continued in LA, which again exemplified how Matt and Suzie’s working friendship was a perfect merge of creativity. Models getting changed in the back of cars, taking taxis around the city and scoping out locations that felt right, taking advantage of natural light and impromptu backdrops such as the NY Fire Station – and having to pause to allow a fire engine to leave – highlights the fun and spontaneous nature of the two creators.
